Biography

Claes de Backer was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church of New York City, on June 8, 1648, a son of Claes Janszen Kust and his second wife, Geertje Nannincks, (widow of Abel Reidenhasen.)

In 1668, Claus was among the Dutch grantees of the Passaic valley, New Jersey and settler of Bergen, now in Hudson county. Claes de Backer died June 8, 1698. [1]
